The Chesapeake Arboretum hours are from sunrise to sunset every day of the week, making it easy and convenient to plan your trip to this attraction.  You’ll find this park at the center of the city of Chesapeake at the address 624 Oak Grove Road.

History of the Chesapeake Arboretum

Originally a farmhouse built all the way back in the 1700s, this area was last occupied by the Williamson family in 1844.  Their family cemetery is still located across the street from the arboretum to this day.  

Things to Do at the Chesapeake Arboretum

You’ll never run out of activities at the Chesapeake Arboretum!  The Chesapeake Arboretum trail map contains over three miles of walking trails that you can explore to get some exercise while admiring the surrounding scenery.  The Chesapeake Arboretum Loop is a favorite of many that you will love.  This 1.6-mile course provides fantastic views of Lake Hughes and highlights the local wildlife.  Be sure to identify as many trees as you can; there’s a wide variety found here!  You can access this trail all year long and even bring your favorite furry friend on a leash!  The Chesapeake Arboretum also has several picnic areas so you can enjoy a basket lunch out in the sunshine.
