About the Edenton Steamers Baseball Team

A determined team whose origins can be traced back to the 1940s, the Edenton Steamers have fought tirelessly for their many victories throughout the years, earning them countless awards, as well as the title of CPL Petitt Cup Champions in the years 2004, 2005, and 2015.  Their name, the Steamers, comes from a type of clam that is abundant in the Edenton Bay area, causing their loveable mascot to be called Sam the Clam!  Steamers fans adore this goofy, human-sized clam, who wears sunglasses and helps get the crowd excited and cheering for the team.

About the Historic Hicks Field

Originally established in the year 1939, the Historic Hicks Field is a significant part of North Carolina history.  The dominant feature of this field is its main grandstand which can accommodate up to 500 fans; this wooden structure is one of the last remaining grandstands of its kind in the state.  This field played host to many minor league and semi-pro teams throughout the years and has even seen a few major league all-stars, such as Bob Feller.  Although the Historic Hicks Field had some major renovations in 1997, it still has that vintage and retro feel of an “old-timey” baseball field.
